A new class of soluble polyimide/silica nanocomposite was prepared by the sol-gel process starting form tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) in the solution of polyamic acid in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone. The hybrid films or solutions were obtained by the hydrolysis - polvcon-densation of TEOS in the polyamic acid solution, followed by heating at 270℃. UV - vis, SEM, TGA were used to monitor the microstructure, solubility, thermal properties, mechanical properties, etc. of the PI/SiO2 nanocomposite.
