STUDY ON THE WEATHER-RESISTANT PROPERTIES OF ABS/BaSO_4 COMPOSITES

The weather-resistant properties of ABS/BaSO4 and the influences of three kinds of surface modifier, stearic acid, rare earth coupling agent and titanate coupling agent were investigated. The mechanical properties measure and FTIR test of samples underwent atmosphere exposed and heated-oven aging revealed that filling BaSO4 could retard the thermal-oxidation and photo-oxidation of ABS and improve its weather resistance. The use of stearic acid and rare earth coupling agent could accelerate the photo-oxidation feebly and have almost no effect on thermal-oxidation. However, titanate coupling agent accelerated both of the thermal-oxidation and the photo-oxidation obviously.
