PREPARATION OF NYLON 66/MONTMORILLONITE NANOCOMPOSITES AND STUDY ON THEIR STRUCTURES AND PROPERTIES

Chen Ye, Han Keqing, Lin Jiangbin, Wang Liling, Yu Muhuo (Institute of materials, Donghua University, Shanghai 200051, China)
Nylon 66/montmorillonite nanocomposites were prepared by melt-intercalation process using the twin-screw extruder. And the structures and the mechanical properties of nanocomposites were studied. Results showed that the exfoliated nanocomposites were made and the mechanical properties of composites were better than Nylon 66 without montmorillonite. Especially when the montmorillonite content was two percent, the mechanical properties of the composites were best.
