STUDY ON THE SYNTHESIS AND PROPERTY OF HIPS INSERTED NANO-MMT

The synthetic method of HIPS inserted nano-MMT was studied, the impact strength and the tensile strength of the sample were measured, the structure appearance of the sample's impact cross section was observed. The results showed that the impact strength of the triad HIPS was 16.2 kJ/m2, its tensile strength was 46.6 MPa and its elongation at break was 1. 62% with low content's MMT and rubber elastomer, so it approached or reached the operating requirement of the engineering plastics. The reason was probably that nano-MMT were converged in the intersect of rubber and thus producing the synergist improving activity.
