PREPARATION OF PS/Al_2O_3 NANOCOMPOSITE BY SELECTIVE LASER SINTERING

Al_(2)O_(3)/PS nanocomposites was prepared by selective laser sintering(SLS).The nano-Al_(2)O_(3) particle was modified by emulsion polymerization,and the mechanical properties of polystyene(PS) powder sintered parts were compared with that of PS/Al_2O_3 nanocomposite molding powder(NH1) sintered parts at the same process conditions.The results showed that the tensile strength of NH1 sintered parts was up to 29.8 MPa,which was twice as much as PS sintered parts.And the notched impact strength of NH1 sintered parts was up to 10.5 kJ/m~2,which was 20%~50% higher than that of PS sintered parts,but the Rockwell hardness increased 5% only.The FE-SEM micrograph analysis results showed that the nano-Al_2O_3 modified by emulsion polymerization dispersed well in matrix,and it served the function of toughening and strengthening.
