DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF ATTAPULGITE REINFORCED POLYETHERIMIDE SEALING MATERIALS

Based on the grafting modification of attapulgite(AT) with γ-aminopropyltrimethoxysilanes as the couping agents,the polyetherimide (TEI) was reinforced by AT. The mechanical and tribological properties of the composite were investigated. And the application tests were made. The results indicated that 3% AT could obviously enhance the mechanical strength of composite at the room and/or evaluated temperature. The excellent heat resistance and wear resistance made PEI/AT hybrid materials suitable for the sealing of bearings under complicated work condition. And the satisfactory results were obtained by the application tests in high-speed spindle bearing.
