A method for designing the cantilever beams with RC column in masonry wall

In the construction of masonry buildings,the cantilever beams,in most cases,are supported by the reinforced concrete columns for the demand of earthquake resistant design.While,this will improve the capsizal resistant capacity of the cantilever beams and resolve the partial press problem under the beams.However,the standing code has not offered such a formula,which forges difficulties for design.This paper uses the elastic and plastic finite element method to analyze 62 cantilever beams and conclude a practical method for designing this kind of structure.
