Experimental study on shear strengthening with CFRP in negative area of cantilever beams

This paper makes experimental study of stress character of reinforced concrete beam's oblique section in negative area strengthened with U-jackets carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP). Based on the tests of 7 beams, the failure type, the ultimate strength and the influence factors of beams under different strengthening conditions including the anchored and unanchored CFRP with different adhesion heights are researched and analyzed. This paper compares the adequacy of code by using the test results and proposes a modificatory parameter, the predicted capacity with which is conservative and in excellent agreement with the test results.
