Study on deformation of RC beams strengthened by CFRP sheets

The test of nine beams strengthened by CFRP sheets are conducted and the author also collects the information of other six beams strengthened by CFRP sheets.Before yielding of steel bar,plane assumption is matched well with the experiment results,but after yielding of steel bar,it is not agreed with the test results well.The yield curvature and displacement of the beam strengthened by CFRP are increased,but all of the ultimate curvature,displacement,and ductility ratio of curvature coefficient μ_ and displacement coefficient μ_Δ are decreased.The deformation ability can be improved by the U type stirrup that are even distributed along the beams.The formulas to calculate the yield and ultimate curvature of beam are worked out considering the action of the stirrup,and the accuracy of the formula was proved by experiment.The maximum CFRP amount of the beam with rectangular section were calculated according to ductility arming.
