Stress-strain behaviour of CFRP-confined concrete in rectangular columns

Extensive research has been carried out on the stress-strain behaviour of CFRPconfined concrete in circular columns,but much less has been concerned with rectangular columns,which are more common in existing structures.A series of compression tests were thus carried out on 14 CFRP-wrapped rectangular columns,in which the main factors that affect the stress-strain behaviour,namely,the corner radius,the aspect ratio of the cross section and the amount of CFRP confinement were all examined.The test(results) are first presented and then compared with Lam and Teng(2003)'s design-oriented stress-strain model for FRP-confined concrete in rectangular columns.The model of Lam and Teng(2003) provides satisfactory predictions and is thus reliable for design purposes.
