Study on the differential settlement of widened road

Pavement performance in widened roads has been a great concern for highway engineers in road-widening-related design and construction projects.Plane elastoplastic finite element method(FEM) was used to discuss the deformation behavior under self weight.The non-uniform settlement behavior of newly-built and existing subgrades was investigated in details.Furthermore some design-construction comments were provided based on results of numerical simulation.
