Strength calculation of concrete-filled steel tublar short columns under axial compression based on mohr's strength theory

The analysis of the stress state for core concrete in concrete-filled steel tubes is carried out.The computational method and approximate formulas of stresses in circular,rectangular section steel tubes subjected to side compression are given.The strength condition is deduced using Mohr's linear strength criteria.Results show that the side compress of the steel tubes contributes to the enhancement of core concrete strength.On that basis the computational formulas of ultimate capacity force for concrete filled circular,rectangular section short columns are established.The results are in line with experimental datum in the corresponding literature.Mohr's linear strength criteria is appropriate for the concrete filled steel tubes.
