Seismic design of beam-column bolted and welded joints of steel frames

Design of joints is an important process in design of steel structure,so it is an important content of seismic design for steel structures to improve the performance resisting to earthquake of beam column joints.This paper reports the main measures of seismic design for steel structures to improve the performance resisting to earthquake of beam column joints,including:Reinforce joints by bracing and covering board in order to increase ultimate carrying capacity.Make the plastic hinge of the frame under severe earthquake to occur at the end of beams instead of on joints by locally decreasing end cross section of beam.Improve on the contexture of access hole to relax the stress concentration at the end of access hole.Deal with weld tAbs and the backing-bar appropriately to reduce weld-dug.
