Research on definition of short-piered shear wall of tall building

Short-piered shear wall structure and partly short-piered shear wall structure can satisfy the demand of building function well. It is difference for everyone's view on definition of short-piered shear wall. Based on the analysis of the minimum ratio value of the pier height to its thickness,according to the calculating results of three examples,the article prove that,the definition of short-piered shear wall according to the Additional Regulations of Technical Specification for Concrete Structures of Tall Building( JGJ3-2002) in Guangdong province is reasonable. It also give some advices on the design of the short-piered shear wall.
