Seismic appraisal of tall building in areas with large epicenter distance during Wenchuan Earthquake

In Wenchuan Earthquake,Xi'an city in Shanxi Province are in areas with large epicenter distance.The earthquake caused different degree seismic damage on tall buildings in the areas remote from epicenter.Based on the seismic appraisal of a tall building in Xi'an City,the seismic damage characteristic and reason of tall buildings in the remote areas from the epicenter zone are analyzed.Then several suggestions about seismic design and measures are given,including the earthquake hazard level and seismic fortification level.
