The exeriment and study on micropore characteristic change of remolded quartz soil in the consolidation process

The microstructure of soil has a significant influence on soil mechanical behavior.In this paper,the mercury intrusion tests were employed on remolded quartz soil to investigate the relationship between pore distribution of mercury test and stress level due to consolidation.Studies have shown that: middle pores in the range of 1000~10000 nm is the largest proportion in the remolded quartz soil,the number of micro-pore and smaller micro-pore is very small;consolidation pressure will significantly change pore scale and pore distribution characteristics of the remolded quartz soil which results in the changes of compressibility.
