The Party, the Party members, and the masses:on the Party Rectification Movement

during the Land Reform in North China LI Li-feng(School of Government,Nanjing University,Nanjing 210093,China)
The Chinese Communist Party launched a comprehensive and thorough Party Rectification Movement in order to resolve the difficulties during the Land Reform. The Party encouraged the masses to participate in the movement and authorized them to judge the party members at local levels, which makes the movement also known as "Open-Door Party Rectification".The relations among the Party, the Party members, and the masses in the Party Rectification Movement revealed profound changes in the power structure of rural China and in patterns of the CCP's rural governance.Through "Open-Door Party Rectification",the CCP not only effectively supervised and controlled the grass-roots political elites, but involved the masses in rural area into the power system of the Party and the state as well, and hence realized the goal of rural governance.
