Studies on less seeding-rate cultivation technique for transgenic hybrid cotton

Field experiments were conducted to study the less seeding-rate cultivation technique adopting hybrid cotton-Lumianyan 15 in three types of ecological cotton growing areas of Shandong Province in 1999The results showed that,compact cultivation with less quantity of seed did not affect cotton plant developmental period,but enhanced individual plant growth and development,and resulted in earlier closure between two rowsThe compact cultivation technique was an effective way for hybrid cotton planting,which could reduce labor force and greatly save cost,while yield kept stableThe main points of this technique were to lessen the seeding rate(less than 1kg),reduce the plant density(22500~37500 plants per hactare),and keep two vegetative branches near the lst fruit branch
