Induction and identification of haploids of advanced hybridization of transgenic Bt upland cotton

The progress of crop breeding can be promoted via doubled haploid technique that can rapidly polymerize and purify several advanced genes The virescently marked semigamy line(vSg) in island cotton (Gossypium barbadense L) has potential to produce high frequency of haploids,and can be used as female parent to induce target haploids In the present study, the haploids of advanced hybridization of Bt transgenic upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L) were successfully induced by vSg It is difficult to identify the haploid individuals in the early developmental stage of the offspring population of the cross between vSg and the target hybridization crosses An effective method was proposed to detect the vSg induced target haploids through Bt gene screening and molecular marker identification
