Isolation of A Microorganism Degrading Ammonia-nitrogen and Study on Its Degrading Characteristics

A strain named CM3 which was good at removing ammonia-nitrogen was isolated from the sludge of Fumin hoggery in Chongming Garrison of Shanghai.Then its degrading characteristics were studied.The results showed that the optimum temperature and pH value for CM3 strain to degrade ammonia-nitrogen were 30℃ and 8.0 respectively;the degradation rate could reach over 40% in 4 days when the initial concentration of ammonia-nitrogen was 300 mg/L;the CM3 strain could use many carbon-containing compounds as carbon source for growth.Therefore,the CM3 strain had the potential application value for its ammonia-nitrogen degrading ability.
