Comparison of Osmolytes and Antioxidant Enzymes in Thellungiella halophila and Arabidopsis thaliana under NaCl Stress

In this study,the following physiological parameters were measured both in Thellungiella halophila and Arabidopsis thaliana,including the contents of proline and soluble proteins both related to osmotic adjustment,and the activities of SOD,CAT,APX and POD.The results showed that,after the treatments with high concentrations of NaCl(100 mmol/L),the contents of osmotic adjustment substances in Thellungiella halophila were significantly higher than those in Arabidopsis thaliana.Furthermore,the activities of antioxidant enzymes,especially CAT activity,were dramatically inhibited by high-salt conditions(100 mmol/L) in Arabidopsis thaliana,whereas they suffered no distinctly adverse effects under the same conditions in Thellungiella halophila.
