Effects of Single Application and Mixture of SA and CaCl_2 on Heat Tolerance of Cucumber Seedlings

The induced effects of single application and the mixture of salicylic acid(SA) and calcium chloride(CaCl2) on the heat tolerance of cucumber seedlings were studied by foliage spray.The results showed that both the single application and the mixture of SA and CaCl2 could increase the heat tolerance of cucumber seedlings.The SOD and POD activities of SA treatment increased the most which increased by 42.7% and 77.1% respectively compared with those of the control.The MDA content was reduced by 42.6% on the third day after the treatment.The CAT activity and the proline content of CaCl2 treatment were significantly higher than those of the other treatments,which increased by 49.2% and 42.7% respectively compared with those of the control.The induced effects of the mixture of SA and CaCl2 were better than the control's,but significantly lower than those of the single application of SA or CaCl2 showing antagonistic effect.
