Effects of Accumulated Temperature and Seedling Age on Welsh Onion Bolting

Zhangqiu Welsh onion was used as material to discuss the effects of accumulated temperature and seedling age on bolting.The results showed that when the active accumulated temperature and the effective accumulated temperature before winter were 971℃(≥5℃)or 777℃(≥10℃)and 616℃(≥5℃)or 542℃(≥10℃)respectively,the Welsh onion reached the critical physiological seedling age for bolting(13.8 cm of plant height,0.4 cm of pseudostem diameter and 2.6 leaves).The plants above these standards could bolt after the accumulated temperature of 0~10℃,0~7℃ and 0~5℃ reached to 550℃,262℃ and 132℃ respectively,or the effective accumulated temperature reached to 470℃,221℃ and 103℃ respectively.The older the Welsh onion seedlings were,the less accumulation of low temperature needed for bolting.
