Molecular Detection of Cadmium Uptake Gene Cdu1 in Common Wheat by Functional Markers

One co-dominant functional molecular marker usw47 was used in this study to identify the composition of the cadmium uptake gene Cdu1 in 86 wheat materials.The results showed 59 wheat materials(accounting for 68.60%) had the 375-bp band as the lower cadmium absorption type,while 27 materials(accounting for 31.40%) had the 225-bp band as the higher cadmium absorption type.About 74.47% derivatives of wheat cultivar Xiaoyan 6 had the same gene compositions with Xiaoyan 6 at Cdu1 locus,while about 25.53% derivatives had the high-Cd alleles.Most newly selected cultivars in Shandong Province had the low-Cd alleles,while 33.33% cultivars had the high-Cd alleles.
