Comparative Study on Development and Planting Return among Various Genotypes of Bt Transgenic Cotton

Dong Hezhong,Li Weijiang,Li Zhenhuai & Tang Wei (Shangdong Cotton Research Center,Jinan 250100)  
The growth and development characteristics and planting return of various genotypes of Bt transgenic varieties were investigated in cotton field .The results showed that Bt transgenic hybrid cotton varieties 6H1 and H9513 were dominant in growth and development,and regular Bt transgenic cotton 33B grew slowly in its early stage and fast in late stage.In terms of yield,two hybrid varieties were significantly higher than Zhongmiansuo 9418(CK) ,while two regular Bt transgenic cottons were lower than the check by 5%20%.The total labor for pest control workdays could be decreased by 57% for planting Bt transgenic cotton varieties ,of which the bollworm controlling labor workdays was decreased by 70% compared with planting regular cotton varieties.The total pest controlling input was reduced by 70%,of which the bollworm controlling input was reduced by 90%.
