Progress of research on the chemical components and pharmaceutical action of walnut kernel

CHEN Qin, LI Lei-ke, WU Yao(School of Life Science, Anhui University, Hefei 230039,China)  
This paper reviewed the progress of research on chemical components, process and development, pharmaceutical action of walnut kernel in the recent years. The nutritional components of walnut kernel were abundant in proteins, vitamins, carbohydrate and microelements. The pharmacological research showed that walnut kernel could clear away the free radical, inhibit the lipid peroxidation damage and anti-aging action, enhance the memory, hairdressing and nourishing kidney tonic yang action. This paper offered the thought and method for more research and development as well as utilize the abundant resources of walnut kernel.
