Effects of different organic carbon and nitrogen on the biomass and chlorophyll-a content of Spirulina platensis A_9

The biomass and Chlorophyll-a of Spirulina Platensis A_(9)in Zarrouk medium were studied after added with different organic carbon and nitrogen sources.The results show that 1.5 g·L~(-1) glucose can stimulate the growth of strain A_(9) apparently among all kinds of sugars,with increasing 19.1% of average growth ratio and shortening 16.1% of average time for one generation.The addition of 1.5 g L~(-1)maltose to Zarrouk could also promote the growth of strain A_(9) with increasing 5.2% of average growth ratio and decreasing 5.6% of average time for one generation.Strain A_(9) also grows better with 1.0 g L~(-1) sodium malate.Compared with control group,the effects of added organic nitrogen sources are not so obvious as that of organic carbon sources,only 0.2 g L~(-1) urea can advance the growth of strain A_(9) slightly.As for the effects of organic carbon and nitrogen sources on the content of chlorophyll-a,the following are results:compared with control,addition of sodium malate affects the content of chl-a most,with increase of chl-a content of 73.4% per weight of filament,while addition of glucose causes the decrease of chl-a content slightly.
