With the expansion of development scale and extension of mining time for gold the mine tailings as treated by storage have increased year after year not only taking up much of the land causing pollution to the environment around the reservoir but also needing to expend a lot of money for construction and maintenance of the tailings reservoir.Therefore,utilization of gold mine tailings of around 1g/t has become one of the priorities given to comprehensive utilization of the resources and to environmental protection.With the time going the long developed gold resources have shown a decreasing trend for high-grade ores in the Tongling area.So it?s time for paying attention to the tailings abandoned in the past.After economic analysis of the tailings,we found that the majority of the tailings have good economic value.For these non-renewable mineral resources,this research has provided a scientific basis for sustainable development of gold mines,comprehensive utilization of the resources and protection of the ecological environment.
