THE ANALYSIS AND MEASUREMENT OF TEMPERATURE OF THERMAL WEAR SURFACE

In this paper the temperature field of friction surface and secondary surfaceof die steel have been analyzed in thermal wear testing. The calculated surfacetemperature of 3Cr2W8V die steel is up to 740℃ and secondary surface tempera-ture 0.5 mm below the surface is high than 600℃. Using grindable thermocoup-le, the measured highest mean temperature is up to 800℃ and the maximum flashtemperature is up to 1200℃. The same results were obtained by metallographmethod (hardness method)and coincided were with calculated values. It is shownthe mean surface temperature is directly proportional to the workplace tempera-ture and friction speed. Obvious effect of normal stress was not observed.
