Experimental Study on the Treatment of Pharmaceutical Wastewater by Using an UASB Reactor

Under the condition of medium temperature(37±2℃),a 3L mesophilic UASB reactor is used to treat the high SO42-and high COD pharmaceutical wastewater.Under steady condition and influent COD of 9500mg/L,influent SO42-of 2500~3500mg/L,the volumetric COD loading could reach 9.5kgCOD/m3·d with HRT of 24 hours and SO42-removal rate over 70%,COD removal rate over 70%,corresponding to the optimal COD/SO42-ratio is 2.5~3.This experiment offers a reference for the anaerobic treatment technology of pharmaceutical wastewater.
