Effect of Lentinan on Pulmonary Infection of Long-Term Bedridden Elderly Veterans

Objective To observe the effect of lentinan on pulmonary infection of long-term bedridden elderly veterans.Methods 62 long-term bedridden elderly veterans were randomlv divided into the lentinan group and the control group.Results After treatment,the lentinan group showed significant increase in the concentrations of IgA,IgG and IgM,and obvious decrease in the incidence of pulmonary infection and the risk of death.The objective response rate was significantly increasced and the improving time was obviously shorten for the clinical symptom,the sign and the examination of chest-X-rays in the lentinan group.Conclusion The results show that lentinan is effective for improving immune functions in long-term bedridden elderly veterans,can obviously decrease the incidence of pulmonary infection and the risk of death.
