Effects of 10℃ Low Temperature on Physiological Index of Hardness in Watermelon Seedlings

The effects of 10-degree low temperature treatment on physiological characteristics of the seedlings of three watermelon varieties,such as Zao-Jia 8424(cold-sensitive type),Wan-Fu-Lai(moderate cold tolerant type),Wild watermelon(cold tolerant type) were investigated at four-leaf stage.The results demonstrated that,The leakage of electrolytes,the content of Proline and the activities of Peroxidase(POD) were increased with the extension of low temperature treatment in all the three varieties tested,the activities of Superoxidase(SOD) of Wan-Fu-Lai and Wild watermelon increased otherwise that of Zao-Jia 8424 increased first,and then declined.The soluble sugar of Wild watermelon displayed the trend to declining-rising.And however,Zao-Jia 8424 and WanFu-Lai show the trend to rising with the extension of low temperature treatment.
