Analysis of Polybasic and Higher Fatty Acids in Flue-cured in Henan Tobacco

The polybasic and higher fatty acids,such as oxalic,malic,citric,palmitic,linoleic and stearic acids in flue-cured tobacco were quantitatively analyzed with methyl esterification,solvent extraction and GC.Tobacco powder containing adipic acid(internal standard) was esterified in H2SO4-CH3OH at 35℃ for 24 hrs,followed by extraction with CH2Cl2 for 3 times,washed with aqueous saturated NaCl solution,dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and determined by GC.The results showed that the content of malic,oxalic,citric and linolenic acids in flue-cured tobacco tested was much higher than that of their other organic acids,the content of higher fatty acid in lower stalk position is higher than that of in upper and middle stalk position.
