Progress of study on L-tryptophan

As a necessary amino acid,L-tryptophan is widely applied in medicine,food and feedstuff.With the development of study on L-tryptophan,the methods of its production changes from protein hydrolyzation and chemical synthesis to direct fermentation from microorganisms.With the development of genetic engineering,metabolic engineering is becoming more and more important in the research of production strain.This paper reviews the nature of production and applications of L-tryptophan.
