Research Progress on Mechanism of Glycinebetaine in Plant Stress Resistance

Xu Suolian et al. (College of Life Sciences,Yunnan Normal University,Kunming 650092,China)  
As one of the most important osmotic regulators in higher plants,glycine betaine plays a significant physiological function in regulating the adaptability to environmental stress and in enhancing the osmotic stress resistance in many plants.The article sums up the latest developments of the roles of glycinebetaine on increase in plant stress tolerance,protection of reproductive organs,and induction of specific gene expression in recent years,and put forward the development tendency.
