Effect of Interspecific Competition on the Growth of Wheat

Zhao Jingjing et al. ( East China Normal University,shanghai 200062,China)  
The studies on the effect of interspecific competition on the growth of wheat were carried out by wheat and capsella bursa -pastoris intercropping. The plant height,leaf area index,tiller number,POD enzyme activity ,root and shoot biomass were studied at different growth stages,and analyzed by their averages. The results showed that interspecific competition can restrain the leaf area index and the tiller number,but can accelerate the plant height,POD enzyme activity,root and shoot biomass. The reasons are that the capsella bursa-pastoris compete the space,light,water,nutrient and so on, So the growth of wheat is restrianed. In order to acquire more resources,the wheat must change the form construction and physiological index which are observed by the facilitating for the plant height,POD enzyme activity,root and shoot biomass.
