Effect of Water Stress on the Growth and some Physiological Characteristics of Root System in Rice

Zhang Yuping et al (Agronomy Department of Anhui Agriculture University,Hefei 230036)  
Seeds were grown in pots to study the water force on rooting of rice on the experiment farm in 1999. The results showed that : The number of secondary roots、the dry weight、the absorbent surface total area and activ absorption area 、activity of TTC was different in various degrees of water deficit. The roots was little effect to drought during tillering stage .but it was sensitive between the jointing stage and the flowering stage. Seventy or seventy-five percent of field moisture capacity were adequate for roots growth.
