Development and Utilization of Water Resource in Arid Agriculture Areas of Western Henan Province

Water resources were heavily insufficient ,annual precipitation was few and unbalanced in different seasons , annual gradient has larger change and drought frequently appears and lasts for a long time in western Henan.The insufficiency of water resources was a major factor that constrainted the sustainable development of agriculture in arid planting areas.To improve the problem of drought ,water shortage and.unfavourable condition,it is necessary that investigate effective measures of drought-resistant and water-saving to present water resource situation:applying suitable crops and cultivars,and agronomic measures of drought-resistant;popularizing techniques of rainwater harvesting ,water-saving irrigation and chemical evaporation-restrained ; raising water utilization efficiency;ensuring the sustainable development of agriculture in arid planting areas in western Henan.
