Breeding of Short-photoperiod-sensitive Genetic Male-sterile Rice-D38S

LI Shi-ling et al(Yichun College,Yichun,Jiangxi 336000)  
Short-photoperiod-sensitive genetic male-sterile rice(SPGMR) is a new kind of photoperiod-sensitive genetic male-sterile rice.D38S is a male sterile line derived from the cross breeding with rice YiDS1 as a gene donor to Zigui.According to the identification of the transition of male-sterility,the results showed that D38S was a SPGMR type with photoperiod sensitivity opposite to Nongken 58S.Within the regime of temperature between 23~28 ℃,male sterility was induced when the photoperiod was shorter than 13 hrs and recovered when the photoperiod was longer than 13 hrs.Indica rice D38S,characterized with superior morphology,a high outcrossing rate and a good combining ability,can be directly utilized as breeding parent in two-line hybrid breeding.
