Simultaneous Spectrophotometric Determination of Norfloxaxin and Ofloxacin in Human Serm Sample

Both norfloxacin and ofloxacin have absorption at ultraviolet zone,and their absorption spectra are severely overlapping.So they can be determined individually without prior separation.In the paper,the chemometric methods,such as classical least square(CLS),principal component regression(PCR),partial least square(PLS) and radial basis function-artificial neural network(RBF-ANN) were applied to the simultaneous determination of these compounds of synetic samples in a Britton-Robinson(B-R) buffer solution(pH 1.81). The results showed that the chemometric methods(PCR and PLS) had advantages for the prediction over other chemometic methods(CLS and RBF-ANN).Following the validation of the proposed method,it was successfully applied for the determination of norfloxacin and ofloxacin in human serum samples.Besides,linear calibration graphs were obtained in the concentration range of 0.6~13.8 and 0.5~15.0 mg/L,respectively,and limit of detections were 0.14 and 0.24 mg/L,respectively.
