The Metabolism Analysis of a Building Body in Urban Areas

This paper analyzed the process of the material flows during the construction of buildings using urban metabolism theories.By some site surveys on building construction,we analyzed the material consumption in the period of building construction,and compared the differences in material consumption for different components of a building,and finally,a model of building metabolism was established.It is shown from this metabolism model that different components of a building have different use levels for different materials and produce different quantities of build wastes,therefore cause many serious environmental or ecological problems.This research has presented a basis for further analysis on environmental or ecological impacts during the process of building construction,and also is helpful for developing urban sustainable buildings.
