YU Qing-guo et al(Yunnan Institute for Forest Inventory and Planning,Kunming,Yunnan 650051)
Most nature elements and objects are three dimensional, but they are quite often expressed in two dimensions due to technical limitation. The study was to develop a three D-map of bird species in Nuozhadu Nature Reservation Zone with an digital elevation model and data of the vegetation and the bird species obtained from comprehensive science surveys for the nature reservation with aids of software like ArcView,ArcMap,ERDAS etc.The study helped to replace two-dimensional maps with three-dimensional ones, and birds were marked on their habitats with colorful mark. Therefore a map as output from the comprehensive science survey was made with more visualized, more interesting and more practicable. The study was of remarkable reference value for other similar three D mapping.
