Study on the Driving Force Factors of County Cultivated Land Changes in Mountain Area

FENG Xiao-hong et al (College of Resources,China University of Geosciences,Wuhan,Hubei 430074)
Using principal component analysis and regression analysis, the driving force factors of the quantitative changes of cultivated land in Fang county in recent 11 years was studied and the regression model of driving factors was set up.The results indicated that the driving force factors that caused the decrease of cultivated land area from 1995 to 2005 were the economic development and the urbanization level. For protecting the cultivated lands in mountain areas, population should be controlled and the economic factors should be restricted, especially the factor of cultivated land occupancy because of urbanization.
