Screening and Application of Variety Resources of Sweet Potato with Leaf Stalk for Vegetable Use

[Objective] The aim was to screen the sweet potato varieties with leaf stalk for vegetable use and increase the utilization value of variety resources of sweet potato.[Method] The screenings in seedling and field resource nurseries were conducted on 1 126 Chinese variety resources of sweet potato in 2005~2007.The screened sweet potato varieties with leaf stalk for vegetable use and their cultivation techniques were introduced and their development advantages were pointed out.[Result] According to screening standard,the screened sweet potato varieties with leaf stalk for vegetable use included Lushu 3,Shangshu 19 and Xushu 22.The cooked leaf stalk had good color,aroma,taste,shape and meaning.The open cultivation of sweet potato varieties with leaf stalk for vegetable use was conducted in Mar.~Aug.and their greenhouse cultivation could be conducted in the whole year.The sweet potato with leaf stalk for vegetable use had development advantages of extensive planting area,long time,high profit,environmental protection and big market potential.[Conclusion] Lushu 3,Shangshu 19 and Xushu 22 were the suitable sweet potato varieties with leaf stalk for vegetable use.
