Salt Tolerance Capability of Tamarix chinensis and the Effects on the Improvement of Coastal Saline Soil

[Objective] The research aimed to provide academic basis to improve and utilize the coastal saline soil by Tamarix chinensis.[Method] The potted and field experiment was carried out at Dongying Halophyte Garden.And the average height,basal diameter,branch number and mortality rate of Tamarix chinensis was detected after growed for 50 days.[Results] The capability of salt tolerance of Tamarix chinensis was around 25 g/kg and the utmost tolerance was around 35 g/kg.Planting Tamarix chinensis could reduce the salt content in topsoil effectively,and improve the content of soil organic matter,N,P and K.[Conclusion] The research proved that Tamarix chinensis was a kind of plant with significant salt tolerance capability and it had remarkable effects on the improvement of coastal saline soil.
