Influence of Raw Material Type on the Formaldehyde Release Amount of Finger-joined Lumber

In the sampling inspection of the same batch products from the same factory and produced by the same production process,it was found that the formaldehyde release amount of finger-joined lumber of pine woods was 24.7 times of that of Toonna sinensis woods and their difference reached 0.05 significant level,and that the formaldehyde release amount was increased along with the extending of stacking time of products and the ascending of testing temperature and humidity and the difference was significant.The fundamental cause was the difference of physical characters and chemical properties among different raw materials,which also induced the changes of water content,density and compression strength parallel to grain of finger-joined lumber.The measures such as optimally selecting raw materials and reducing their heterogeneities were helpful to reduce the formaldehyde release amount of products.
