Comparative Study on Salt Resistance of 8 Varieties of Tall Fescue in Seedling Stage

[Objective] The aim of research was to study the salt resistance of different tall fescue varieties in seedling stage.[Method] In the salt stress treatments 8 varieties of tall fescue like Southeast were treated by NaCl solution with different concn.(0,0.3%,0.6%,0.9%,1.2% and 1.5%) in seedling stage and their changes of 5 physiological and biochemical indexes were accessed to study the salt resistance of different tall fescue varieties.[Result] With the increment of NaCl concn.the contents of MDA,praline and carotenoids and SOD activity in seedlings of tall fescue showed a rising trend as a whole and their POD activity showed the trend of first increasing and then decreasing.The contents of MDA,praline and carotenoids and the activities of SOD and POD in seedlings of tall fescue started to rise mostly when the NaCl was 0.9%,thus deducing that 0.9% NaCl might be a critical value for anti-salt growth of seedlings of tall fescue.[Conclusion] The clustering analysis showed that among 8 varieties Jaguar 2 and Fire Phoenix RT had more strong salt tolerance,Southeast and Finelawn had weaker salt tolerance and the salt tolerance of Traple A,Fawn,Poppoint and Infero were middle.
