Effect of Climate Factors and Host Plants on Population Dynamics of Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel) in Suzhou

[Objective] This study aimed to open out the population fluctuation law of Bactrocera dorsalis Hendel(Diptera: Tephritidae) in Suzhou and its main cause of influencing its change.[Method] The population dynamics of B.dorsalis was monitored in pear orchard in Suzhou to analyze the effect of climate factors and host plants on its population fluctuation.[Result] In Suzhou area,the population increment for B.dorsalis adult in pear orchard showed the single peak type.Its peak appeared in September or October and its population amount was lowest from November to May next year.There were a lot of climate factors affecting the population fluctuation including monthly mean temperature,maximum temperature and minimum temperature,monthly extreme maximum temperature and minimum temperature,monthly rainfall and raining days,and post plants,among which,the monthly mean temperature,maximum temperature and minimum temperature,monthly raining days and post plants were the major climatic factors influencing the population amount of B.dorsalis.Zizyphus jujuba was its most favorite host fruit.[Conclusion] This study provided the important date for fully understanding the occurrence regularity of B.dorsalis in Jiangsu province.
