Study on Relationship between Growth of Magnolia grandiflora and Its Site Conditions

[Objective] The aim was to explore the site conditions suitable for the growth of Magnolia grandiflora so as to lay the foundation for its wide cultivation.[Method] The relationship between the growth of M.grandiflora and its site conditions was studied through the survey on the growth condition of M.grandiflora and distributing condition of its root,the water content,bulk density,organic matter content,pH value,section condition of the soil grew by M.grandiflora.[Result] M.grandiflora was suitable to grow in the acid soil.It required that the soil layer should be deep and fertile,the main organic matter content in soil should be high,the structure should be relax,the air-permeability should be good,the drainage ability should be strong and the soil should have no water accumulation.The growth of the overground branch leaves was also important.It required ample sunlight and the growth of the overground branch leaves should be flourishing,which could make the root to acquire the adequate organic matter and promote the root to absorb and grow.[Conclusion] The research provided the theoretical basis for the wide cultivation of M.grandiflora.
