Study on the Occurrence Forms of Phosphorus in the Sediments of Hongze Lake

The composition and distribution characteristics of phosphorus with different occurrence forms in the sediments of Hongze Lake were studied by using sequential extraction method.The results indicated that the content of total P in the sediments of Hongze Lake was from 725.772 mg/kg to 977.637 mg/kg,with the average of 827.887 mg/kg.P mainly consisted of inorganic P(42.4%-65.2%).The main occurrence form was Fe-Al-bound P.Under the conditions of environmental changes,Fe-Al-bound P could be released into the interstitial water and upper water and it was the important factor that caused the lake eutrophication.Ca-bound P was relatively stable and difficult to be used by organisms.So Ca-bound P had not great effects on the lake eutrophication.Owing to the existence of various difference,the content of total P was suggested to be the measure basis of water quality situations.
